It is without question that are many people that love their pets. There are so many luxury pet products on the market from freshly cooked pet food to high-tech squeaky toys and they are all highly popular.

Just since the beginning of the pandemic with more time at home, there is a growing trend and demand in the segment of building luxury spaces in homes for furry family members.

One real estate agent from South Carolina for example became a TikTok Internet sensation almost overnight by sharing on the social media platform how he created a special room for his two-year-old golden retriever.

The TikTok video shows that he created a façade in one of the closets in his home with a custom opening for his beloved dog. He shared his project by posting the story with videos on TikTok. Within just a few weeks the realtor had about 100,000 followers that were constantly asking questions about the luxury pet space.

After selling an old home this realtor moved to Piedmont South Carolina to a five-bedroom contemporary-style house in October 2020. The homeowner decided to turn a storage area under his stairs into a space all for his golden retriever. He shared his project process with the world via social media and today is famously known on TikTok as @thehomeprojectguy with about 3 million followers.

This idea is not a brand new or never-before-seen innovation. Teddy’s  (the golden retriever) owner got the idea from a home he previously showed that had a playhouse created for their daughters from closet space beneath the stairs. The realtor does not have any kids so he decided to make creative use of the space in his brand-new home by turning it into a luxury area for his pet.

This luxury doggy hang-out is complete with a raised built-in dog bed and sliding drawers that keep all of the golden retrievers’ toys neat and tidy in one space. The area also houses a TV and digital fireplace as well as the dog’s portrait above the fireplace. The door to this doggie hang-out is complete with an exterior playhouse-style facade done up in flagstone.

What is especially cool about this luxury area outfitted just for the cutest furry family member of the home is that it is outfitted with soundproof walls. This is so that during times of heavy noise like fireworks over the Fourth of July, or a bad thunderstorm, that Teddy can retreat into this soundproof area for some anxiety-free respite.Creating Luxury Home Spaces for Pets

There is quite the trending buzz around this space that was created for Teddy that it has launched the Tik Tok account @thehomeprojectguy to several million followers. This very high-end dog house is wildly popular and one of the videos of the space has received almost 4 million views.

This homeowner is not the only one that desires to create a luxury pet-friendly space for their favorite family member. A national pet owner survey conducted by American Pet Products Association has shown that about 70% of households in the United States own some type of pet. About 14% of the respondents in the survey got a new pet during the pandemic. US pet owner shopping hit about $103 billion for the first time in 2020 and is estimated to hit about $109 billion in 2021.

Just since the beginning of the pandemic people have been purchasing pets and then making sure to outfit those pets with the best in luxury pet items.

There’s been a high demand for luxury accommodations inside homes to make pets feel more comfortable and ease the daily tasks of taking care of furry family members. Many homeowners across the country are seeking to create luxury spaces within their homes for their pets.

Some real estate experts say it is not a bad idea to consider pets when you are remodeling your home, as designer doggy spaces, like a dog shower with hot and cold water spickets in a mudroom, can be a desirable asset to an interested buyer.
