Christmas Island Style Festivities on Marco Island

Every year there’s a series of fun Christmas community events on Marco Island which are all part of the Christmas Island Style celebration. Here is a list of this year’s 2021 Christmas Island Style events on Marco Island.

December 4 Annual Tree Lighting and Community Celebration

This event kicks off the actual Christmas season at Mackle Park at 6 PM. Due to this year’s health and safety regulations, as well as park regulations, there will be no tailgating on the field and alcohol is prohibited throughout the park.

Canine Pet Parade

This is a parade featuring the furry members of Marco Island. It will take place from 5:30 PM to 7:30 PM on December 7 at CJ’s on the Bay

Riverside Marina is Up and Running on Marco Island

On November 9 the Marco Island Yacht Club had the grand opening of its new Riverside Marina with a christening ceremony. The marina is officially named Riverside Marina at Marco Island Yacht Club and was a $6.9 million state of the art project. The marina provides 27 new wet slips ranging from 45 to 125 feet long with a minimum of 23 feet wide.

Officers and members of the yacht club as well as local officials and professionals that worked on the project were present for the celebration ceremony. The yacht club chaplain Alan Sandlin offered a blessing over the marina and the club’s chairman Dave Everett and Commodore Jeff Walker officially christened the marina with the breaking of a bottle of champagne as is tradition.

The members of the Calusa Garden Club that is located on Marco Island are meeting in small groups to work on floral design skills to prepare for the Plant and Thanksgiving Arrangement Sale that will be held from 9 AM to 3 PM on Tuesday, November 23 at the parking lot of Marco Lutheran Church.

This sale offers items that will be great for any Thanksgiving table and décor on the following Thursday. Items for sale include lush live flower arrangements for Thanksgiving. Some arrangements will be available in live pumpkin container displays and some will be in elegant fall containers.
