On November 9 the Marco Island Yacht Club had the grand opening of its new Riverside Marina with a christening ceremony. The marina is officially named Riverside Marina at Marco Island Yacht Club and was a $6.9 million state of the art project. The marina provides 27 new wet slips ranging from 45 to 125 feet long with a minimum of 23 feet wide.Riverside Marina is Up and Running on Marco Island

Officers and members of the yacht club as well as local officials and professionals that worked on the project were present for the celebration ceremony. The yacht club chaplain Alan Sandlin offered a blessing over the marina and the club’s chairman Dave Everett and Commodore Jeff Walker officially christened the marina with the breaking of a bottle of champagne as is tradition.

This new marina was built because of the increase in demand for boat slips over 65 feet has grown exponentially in the past few years all across southwest Florida. The yacht club is pleased to be able to address the demand and offer larger boat slips on Marco Island to attract new members to the club.

The demand is so high for larger boat slips that 21 of the 22 available boat slips at this new marina have already been spoken for. There are short and long-term leases available and dockage for transient boaters as well that are just visiting the island for a short stint of time. This new marina will have a full-time dockmaster and has 22 floating docks ranging from 45 feet at 125 feet with five fixed docs. There is also a 40,000-pound lift to accommodate larger outboard-powered boats.

Five of the floating docks at the new marina will be reserved for transient boat usage. This new facility offers boaters amenities that include water, electricity, pump-out facilities, lighting, Wi-Fi, and plenty of security cameras. The marina will also have outside food service provided by the Marco Island Yacht Club. The new Marina has state-of-the-art dock designs and meets category one to category three hurricane construction standards.

The Marco Island Yacht Club is located at the junction of Marco River and the Yacht Basin at 1400 N. Collier Blvd., Marco Island and was founded in 2001. This is just one of the many great clubs available on the island to help you get involved with other like-minded neighbors on the island. There are several great activities and opportunities to get to know other boat enthusiasts on Marco Island by joining the Marco Island Yacht Club.
